Sports enable us to improve our physique even as we try to become a champion at some game. But including a sport in our life is not so simple. Be it basketball, football, cricket, hockey, baseball, tennis, or any kind of game, all are different and have different rules and techniques but one of the things that does not differ in any kind of sport is the ‘Sporting Spirit’ of the players.

Participating in sport needs not only skills training, but also learning the lesson of how to develop the sporting spirit in us. If one wants to learn a language, besides learning the vocabulary and syntax, one also needs to learn grammar and it is the Sportsman Spirit which acts like grammar in Sports – knitting the other components together.

The Spirit of Sportsmanship includes being friendly with the opposite team, not disputing with the players of the opposite team, being able to digest defeat, being humble in victory and above all – to play the game fairly.

Recently, the Spirit of Sportsmanship has been in abeyance in some sports, but I am sure that this aspect of sports has not totally vanished and needs to make a speedy comeback.
